Decrease Stress Breathing Method

When we are under stress our oxygen needs increase and the muscles throughout our bodies become tense. Tension headaches are a common symptom and sometimes the pain is unbearable. Deep breathing exercises will provide relief. The first step to gaining some relief is to do diaphragmatic breathing. Begin in any comfortable position. Relaxing all muscles, inhale deeply through your nostrils. Breath in and out slowly and evenly. Fill your expanding abdomen and then your lungs. Again exhale through your nostrils drawing your abdomen back to your spine . Place your right thumb firmly alongside one nostril and breath in from the opposite nostril, slowly for 10 seconds, breathing diaphragmatically.Release the pressure of your thumb to the nostril and exhale. Do this slowly. Keep your count to 10 seconds .Doing this exercise will become easier and you will begin to feel a sense stamina as you work with your breathing rhythmically. You can begin to add more as you become more comfortable.
